Sometimes people are standing in my way, like in a shop or a hallway. Instead of pushing past, I can say 'excuse me' in a friendly voice. Usually, people will move a little so I can pass.
If two people are talking and I need to say something, I can wait for a pause and then say 'excuse me' before I speak. This is more polite than interrupting. Then I wait for them to look at me.
Saying 'excuse me' shows other people that I am being thoughtful. It helps everyone get along. I am learning to say 'excuse me' to be polite.
