Saying Hello

My name is {{childName}}. This is my story about saying hello. When I see someone I know, I can say hello to them. A friendly hello helps people feel welcome and happy. Saying hello is one way people show they are pleased to see each other.

There are lots of ways to say hello. I can wave, smile, or say 'hi'. I can look towards the person and use a calm, friendly voice. A small hello is enough. I can practise my hello with people I see every day.

Often, the other person says hello back, and that feels nice. Sometimes a person is busy or does not notice me. That is okay — it does not mean anything is wrong. I can try again another time. Every hello I give makes me a little braver.
