My name is {{childName}}. This is my story about substitute teachers. Sometimes my teacher cannot come to school — maybe they are sick or busy somewhere else. When that happens, a substitute teacher comes to look after our class instead. Substitute teachers do this at lots of schools.

The substitute teacher might do some things a little differently. They might not know everyone's name yet — our class is new to them, too. The class rules stay the same, and the day still has the same parts. Most things happen just like normal.

I can help the substitute teacher by telling them how things usually work. I can ask for help just like always — substitutes are real teachers, and helping children is their job. Being kind to a new teacher makes the day easier for everyone.

Usually, my teacher comes back soon — often the very next day. Then things go back to the way I know them. Having a substitute for a day is a small change, and I can handle small changes.
